Ursula Street

Overview

The creation of a contemporary home in Battersea within the shell of an existing Victorian terraced house, comprised of over 1200 sq ft over two storeys.

Brief

All the internal walls were to be removed on the ground floor in order to create the desired single living space with a new orangery extension. On the upper floor the original three bedrooms were to be transformed into two more spacious bedrooms with en-suite facilities, linked by a glass bridge and staircase.

Challenges

We had to work with consultant structural engineers on the design and fabrication of the new staircase, which featured sandblasted glass treads with a water ripple design. Whilst not listed, the building was located in a sensitive conservation area which impacted on the design of the orangery extension.
