We worked a local residential developer on the design and interior space-planning of this new build development in SE1, alongside project architect Alan Camp.
Our brief was to suggest layout changes within the apartment units, with the aim of improving flow, maximising usable space, creating interesting design features and improvements to the lighting scheme.
The extensive reconfiguration of a Grade II-listed Ground floor flat for a Middle Eastern Family on London’s Grosvenor Square.
We were asked to retain a number of existing features, but, in balance, to create a flat with a more contemporary feel.
Whilst the existing apartment held nearly 30 years of memories for the family, it was badly laid out with, for example, stepped entrances in the bathrooms to allow for under floor services making flow awkward throughout – one of many aspects to be resolved.
The complete architectural and interior renovation of an 1850s property in a terrible existing condition, including pigeons and asbestos! The property was converted from ten bed-sit flats and an annexe flat into a single and luxurious family home.
The new home needed to include the creation of an informal family chill-out space, a music room, a family kitchen and a sunken patio, as well as six bedrooms and five bathrooms, with the annexe to be refreshed and continue its use as a one-bed self-contained apartment.
The works included excavating, enlarging and underpinning the original basement in order to create the new home and spaces that the client wished, whilst clever planning allowed the isolation of the master suite across the entire width of the rear of the property, split over three levels. A grand existing staircase was worked around to link the formal entertaining spaces to the upper levels.
We worked with a local residential developer on the refurbishment of this prestigious, 5,900 sq ft Grade II-listed house in Tunbridge Wells.
To advise on space planning issues and the division of the property, along with recommendations on finishes, lighting and sanitary ware.
To work with the property’s listed status, whilst encompassing a wide scope of works, including a new roof, new windows, complete re-wiring throughout, new heating and a comprehensive AV installation covering the six-bedroom, five-bathroom family house.
The creation of a contemporary home in Battersea within the shell of an existing Victorian terraced house, comprised of over 1200 sq ft over two storeys.
All the internal walls were to be removed on the ground floor in order to create the desired single living space with a new orangery extension. On the upper floor the original three bedrooms were to be transformed into two more spacious bedrooms with en-suite facilities, linked by a glass bridge and staircase.
We had to work with consultant structural engineers on the design and fabrication of the new staircase, which featured sandblasted glass treads with a water ripple design. Whilst not listed, the building was located in a sensitive conservation area which impacted on the design of the orangery extension.
An extension scheme currently in for planning approval in Blackheath.
