Director and Co-Founder Gurvinder Khurana is a passionate and highly-creative designer. Gurvinder is a great believer in design’s potential to create spaces that are both inspiring to be in and ensure those who use them feel refreshed and at ease. She has a holistic approach to design that aims to balance an organisation’s commercial and emotional requirements and brand values with those of its people, looking to ‘get under the skin’ of clients and really understand their needs and aspirations.
Constantly open to new influences, Gurvinder absorbs all that she comes into contact with and feeds the best of it - from the worlds of fashion, design and architecture or from typography or nature – back into her design concepts.
Gurvinder’s lively opinions are often sought by the press and at events and she has recently been a panellist at Sign & Digital 2018 in Birmingham and interviewed by the BCFA about her favourite creative space and also about what it means to design with emotion. She has twice been a guest of MIX Interiors for their Round Table events and was filmed in 2017 by Design Insider magazine for a case study on the Spark44 project. Gurvinder has also been a judge at the Mixology Awards and has twice judged the FX International Interior Design Awards. In 2017 she was asked to join the speaker group behind ‘Women Talk Real Estate’.
align Director and Co-Founder Nigel Tresise brings huge experience of the world of architecture and construction to his projects, as well as a wealth of technical knowledge. His constant curiosity and cool head ensure that the scheduling, programming and logistics of our projects are always realistic and fully aligned for the right result.
Brief optimisation is a particular specialist area for Nigel, whose MA Research from Central St Martins centred on the development of tools that can assist in the understanding of the analytical and emotional factors that affect organisations during project briefings. His 2016 article, ‘Keeping it brief’, about how to create briefs that lead to successful outcomes, was published over two consecutive issues of MIX Interiors Magazine.
Nigel is a team player who loves to mentor younger team members and help them develop the tools and confidence to grow as designers. He also has a flair for graphics and, when time allows, creates some of our one-off brochures and the look and feel of our digital presentations. He enjoys writing industry ‘thought pieces’ and most recently wrote a piece called ‘What is a cool office – and would anyone want one?’ for the BCFA’s Design Insider magazine, as well as talking to Interior Design Today about what the offices of office designers should look like and to Hotel Designs on misconceptions about interior designers.
